ToneCraftr Privacy Policy
Effective 20 July 2026
ToneCraftr (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Jamshed Zaman. This policy explains what
information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using ToneCraftr you
agree to this policy.
Summary
- You can use ToneCraftr without giving us your name, email, or any personal contact details.
- We store the gear and songs you choose and the tone results we generate for you, so the app works across sessions.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.
Information we collect
ToneCraftr is designed to work without an identifiable account. We collect:
-
An anonymous account. When you first open the app we create an anonymous
account tied to a randomly generated identifier. It is not linked to your name, email, or phone
number unless you later choose to sign in with a provider such as Apple (a future feature); if
you do, we receive only what that provider shares with us.
-
Your rig and preferences. The instruments, amplifiers, pedals and multi-effects
you select, your instrument choice, and your stated skill level.
-
Songs and tone history. The songs you pick and the tone-adaptation results we
generate for your gear, kept so you can return to them.
-
Usage credits. Your balance of adaptation credits and the record of when they
were granted or spent.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, microphone input, or health data. The app does
not access your device’s stored files or accounts.
How we use your information
- To generate tone settings that match a recording to the gear you own.
- To save your rig, song choices and results so the app works across sessions and devices.
- To manage your adaptation credits.
- To respond to you if you contact support.
Service providers
To provide the app, limited information is processed by the following providers on our behalf:
-
Supabase hosts our database and authentication. Your anonymous account, gear,
song history and credits are stored on Supabase infrastructure (United States).
-
Superwall powers our subscription paywall and manages purchase and
subscription state. To decide which paywall to show and to record subscription events,
Superwall processes your anonymous account identifier, device and app information (such as
device model, operating-system version and locale) and your purchase and subscription status.
Superwall does not use this information to track you across other apps or websites.
-
Google (Gemini API) generates the tone analysis. When you request an adaptation
or a song’s reference tone, the song’s public details (title, artist, album) and the technical
specifications of the selected gear are sent to Google’s Gemini API to produce the result. Your
account identifier is not sent.
-
Apple (iTunes Search API) powers song search and provides album artwork and
preview clips. Your search text is sent to Apple to return matching songs.
-
Meta (Facebook) is used only to measure the performance of our advertising
in aggregate. When you install the app from one of our ads or subscribe, the app sends Meta a
limited set of app events (such as install, subscription, and trial start) together with basic
device information. We do not enable cross-app tracking and do not share an advertising
identifier; attribution is handled through Apple’s privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork. We do not use
Meta to build profiles of you or to track you across other apps or websites.
These providers process data only to deliver these functions and under their own terms.
Analytics and tracking
Aside from the subscription and paywall analytics handled by Superwall (described under Service
providers above), ToneCraftr does not use third-party advertising, crash-reporting, or cross-app
tracking SDKs, and does not track you across other apps or websites. If this changes, we will
update this policy before enabling any such feature.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with third parties except the
service providers listed above, or where required by law.
Retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your
account — and with it your profile, gear, saved and adapted tones, and credit history — from inside
the app under Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Signing out of an anonymous account also discards its data.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access to per-user data is restricted by
row-level security so that an account can only reach its own records. No method of storage or
transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
ToneCraftr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from
them. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
International users
Our providers store and process data in the United States. If you use the app from outside the
United States, you understand that your information is processed there.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your information.
Because the app stores no contact details, the most direct way to exercise the right to erasure is
the in-app Delete Account option. For any other request, contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective
date at the top of this page.
